01 / The purpose

Local food.
Easier to find.

Choosing local starts with knowing what’s nearby. Eat Local MA brings food businesses into one mobile directory, helping people explore places to shop and eat across Massachusetts.

The collaboration supports SBN’s work to promote local food and independent businesses. The aim is practical: make it easier to discover a farm, market, restaurant, or food producer and take the next step toward a visit.

02 / The experience

One directory.
Two ways to explore.

List and map views give people a choice in how they find local food, with search and filters close at hand.

01

Browse nearby businesses.

The list view brings business names, images, and distances together. Search and filter the directory to explore the options around you.

See the neighborhood.

The map places local food businesses in context, giving people another way to explore what’s nearby and where they might go next.

03 / Behind the app

Designed with care.
Built to connect.

Interface design, mobile development, and content management come together around the same local food directory.

Design

Adobe XD

The app’s interface was designed in Adobe XD, shaping the screens and navigation before bringing them into the mobile experience.

Mobile application

React Native / Expo

React Native and Expo provide the mobile foundation for iOS and Android, sharing the app’s core interface across both platforms.

Content backend

Strapi

Strapi supports the app’s content backend, keeping directory information separate from the mobile interface that presents it.

04 / Out in the world

Ready to explore.
